Abstract

Recently, there has been increasing need in industrial robotics for a visually controlled guidance system to enhance flexibility, accuracy, and serviceability. To meet this requirement, we developed a high resolution laser range finder based on time of flight techniques. The instrument, which provides a 100-mm measuring range with a 0.1-mm resolution, is intended primarily for welding tasks but can also be used in other areas of robotics and visual inspection.
