Investigation of a 1-kW CO2 laser excited by microwaves

Abstract

We describe the theoretical background and design of microwave excited CO2 gas lasers. Experiments using magnetrons (2.45 GHz) as power supplies were performed and delivered strong laser power (1 kW) with high efficiency (25%) in very compact devices.
