Abstract

Ashura is a high power KrF laser system which consists of nanosecond and picosecond front ends, three electron-beam pumped amplifiers, a sixfold angular multiplexing system, and a Raman compression system. Ashura aims at optical outputs of 1 kJ in 100 ns, 50 GW in 15 ns, 250 GW in 2 ns, and 5 TW in 6 ps.1-3 Ashura1-3 is to be used for research on laser fusion,4 x-ray lasers,3 particle acceleration, etc.
