Abstract

We have developed a method tor producing voltage programmable, arbitrarily shaped laser pulses with ~100-fs resolution1 and >107-W peak power.2 Recent applications of rectangular 600-1500-fs pulses to probe hot carrier relaxation by photoconductive sampling and applications of phase and amplitude modulated laser pulses to create complex solitons in optical fibers are presented.
