Abstract
One of the most fundamental processes among molecule-surface interactions is that of desorption. The study of both thermal and nonthermal mechanisms has been actively pursued to gain information about the potential energy surfaces and the energy exchange rates.1 While laser excitation has been utilized to induce desorption, the work reported to date has relied principally on laser radiation of at least nanosecond duration.
