Abstract

Recent advances in high power laser diodes (IDs) provide an ideal optical source for pumping solid state lasers. Many researchers have started to study these types of laser, and most of the work has concentrated on end pumped devices, which have the advantage of low thresholds and high slope efficiencies. Although these devices are compact and efficient, they are not suitable for high power devices.
