Imaging the retina at optimal pupil sizes significantly improves resolution and contrast in those with diabetes

Abstract

Retinal image quality decreases with increasing diabetes duration and HbA1c. Eye models with individual phase plates determined optimal pupil size which improved retinal contrast and resolution in those with diabetes by up to 4 times.
