This retraction is based on the findings of a 2018 internal investigation by the Research Integrity Office at the University of Utah. The Investigation Committee reviewed allegations of research misconduct by corresponding author, Prof. Ajay Nahata, that centered on figures representing experimental data. The investigation concluded that images in [1] were falsified by Prof. Nahata. The University of Utah confirmed that the coauthors were unaware of the falsification of the figures and that sole responsibility lies with the corresponding author.
OSA’s Editorial Ethics Subcommittee was recently made aware of the University of Utah’s findings and is retracting this paper as a result. Falsification of data is a violation of OSA Ethical Guidelines https://www.osapublishing.org/submit/review/ethics.cfm.
The original article was published 8 December 2016 and was retracted on 16 July 2020.
