Optical Materials Express Feature Issue
Modern Magnetophotonic Materials and Applications
Submissions open: 1 October 2021
Submissions close: 1 November 2021
Magneto-optical materials are valuable because they marry concepts from photonics and magnetism. Such advanced materials that enhance the interaction between light and magnetization of a medium are of prime importance for modern telecommunication and quantum technologies, providing new avenues for ultrafast light control, ultrafast spin control, and sensing. The combination of chemical and nanostructuring approaches in their design enables all optical control of spin ensembles as well as light modulation at GHz and even THz frequencies.
This feature issue aims to explore this fast-moving field and will highlight recent advances in modern magneto-optics or magnetophotonics, including materials, nanophotonic structures, and applications. We welcome submissions that focus on synthesis of new magneto-optical materials, novel types of magneto-photonic nanostructures, and their applications for basic research as well as for modern devices.
Topics to be covered include but are not limited to:
- Magnetic thin films and crystals with enhanced magneto-optical properties
- Magnetoplasmonics
- All-dielectric magnetophotonics
- Magnetic-field induced non-reciprocal photonic systems
- Inverse magneto-optical effects
- Magnetoplasmonic biosensors and magnetometers
- Magneto-optical materials for quantum technologies
All papers need to present original, previously unpublished work, and will be subject to the normal criteria and peer-review process of the Journal. The standard OMEx publication charges will apply to all published articles.
Manuscripts must be prepared according to the usual guidelines for submission to Optical Materials Express and must be submitted online through Prism's manuscript submission system. When submitting, authors should specify that the manuscript is for the "Modern Magnetophotonic Materials and Applications" feature issue (choose from the drop-down menu).
