Abstract

The length dependence of the cutoff wavelength of a cabled fiber is examined theoretically and experimentally as a function of loop diameter. Evaluation of the cutoff wavelength for a cabled fiber is simplified by assuming that loops of equal size are inserted on each side of the cabled fiber, and a simple equation is derived.
