Abstract

The output-pulse characteristics of a N2-laser-pumped dye laser were examined with a 2-psec-resolution streak camera. For a given dye solution the output-pulse duration showed a factor-of-3 increase as the wavelength was tuned from the blue toward the red. The relative intensity as a function of the output wavelength was also measured. Statistics on the fluctuations of both duration and relative intensity were determined. The influence of dye concentration and pumping intensity on the output characteristics was studied.
