Properties of radioluminescence sources for photometry

Abstract

The principal ways in which radioluminescence sources are used in photometry are as reference sources and as strong sources. Data are given on the emission spectra of a typical set of sources that is being developed at the St. Petersburg Technological Institute and that has been partially released under [technical specification] TU 6942-254-02068479-05. This set of about forty sources covers the spectral range from 120 to 1020 nm. The reference sources of the set have a photon flux intensity of 10<sup>6</sup>–10<sup>9</sup> s<sup>−1</sup>, with an intensity falloff of 1–3% per year. The characteristics are given, along with examples of the use of strong photoluminescence and radioelectroluminescence sources.
