Pupil plane versus image plane in Michelson stellar interferometry

Not Accessible

Abstract

Photon noise statistics are used to estimate the effect of image motion or guiding errors on the signal-to-noise ratio for the fringe visibility either in pupil-plane or in image-plane measurements. Pupil-plane observations are found to provide better results in all cases.
