Abstract
The refractivity of carbon dioxide has been measured at vacuum wavelengths from 0.4801260 to 1.8172 (μm). The data were fitted to a Sellmeier curve having three terms. The refractivity reduced to 1 atm at 0°C for 0.5462 μm is (n − 1) 107 = 4505.0±0.6. By use of the dispersion formula, quantities related to dispersion were also found: absorption, oscillator strengths, dielectric constant, Verdet constant, and Rayleigh-scattering coefficient.
