Abstract
The resonant fiber optic gyro (RFOG) based on reciprocal modulation-demodulation technique is introduced and the influence of high modulation frequency on resonance and demodulation output is analyzed. The expression of backscattering output in resonant cavity is deduced and the experimental device is built to measure the backscattering coefficient. The demodulation model considering backscattering noise is established under reciprocal sinusoidal modulation, and the optimal modulation parameters are obtained by simulation. Finally, the RFOG system is set up. The results show that the detection sensitivity is improved by 19% with the optimal modulation parameters and the system bias stability improves from 0.067°/s to 0.023°/s.
