Fiber Optic Probe of a Flame for Copper Number Density Determination

Abstract

Fiber optics have been used for remote analysis in order to maximize safety considerations for both equipment and personnel. As chemical sensors, they allow the exploration of small volumes or closed systems. A fiber optic probe has been used to study localized emission intensities from an rf glow discharge plasma. This note will show how one can use fiber optics to determine copper number densities in a flame without resorting to Abel inversion or using lasers to probe the flame.
