Abstract

Fabbri and Baraldi recorded infrared emission spectra with a normal optical null double beam spectro-photometer and discussed two possible arrangements of sample and reference emitter: (a) sample in front of the sample slit, reference opposite the reference slit; (b) sample in front of the reference slit, reference in the sample beam. According to them arrangement a "is unsuitable" and "described simply for the sake of completeness." On the other hand, a number of authors have measured infrared emission spectra with good results, utilizing method a and a normal spectrophotometer.
