Abstract
Some views are presented of the present status of Mössbauer spectroscopy and its future developments. The basic phenomenon and equipment are described. Analytical aspects, both qualitative and quantitative, are discussed. Illustrations are given of the applications to structural chemistry, surface chemistry and catalysis, metallurgy, terrestrial and extraterrestrial minerals, and biological systems.
