Abstract
Two methods of measuring the optical transfer function have been compared by measurements on a good quality specimen lens, with the test conditions as similar as possible. In one case, the phase differences in the lens pupil function were measured with an interferometer, and in the other, the line spread function obtained by edge gradient analysis of an image. Good agreement between the two techniques was obtained.
