Abstract

Formation of a mirage in the 8–12-μm band has been observed with a high-resolution thermal camera designed and developed by us. Thermal imagery recorded under actual field conditions is presented to illustrate the mirage phenomenon. Further analysis is in progress to estimate the effect of mirages in this waveband for civil and military applications.
