Abstract

Optics is a lively science and has lots of young people in it these days. This journal is in its twenty-seventh year, and retirement has been exercising the minds of some-of-us around Applied Optics of late. This Journalism and Scholarship column caught our attention in the Christmas Eve edition of The New York Times, and is reprinted by permission.
