Abstract

A CARS spectrum of natural CO2 has been recorded in the 1210–1520-cm−1 range at 800 K with a resolution of 0.07 cm−1. Assignments have been made for the Q branches of 46 hot bands; O and S rotational lines have also been observed for several bands. A theoretical calculation of line positions and intensities has been performed with due account for the motional narrowing which affects all the Q branches. As a result, the centers of five hot bands originating from highly excited states have been improved. Finally, excellent agreement between experimental and theoretical spectra has been obtained.
