Abstract

In this paper, we describe a laser–diode distance meter, built into a theodolite, and working on the principle of light intensity modulation (1.75–1.8 GHz) and phase detection. The accuracy of absolute distance measurements in the 3–20-m range is ~1/(1,000,000) rms.
