Abstract

A family of flat-field catadioptric objectives is discussed. These are aplanatic and anastigmatic with small amounts of distortion. One distortion-free case is also discussed. The objectives represent a development of the flat-field Schmidt camera. An afocal doublet lens is used in place of the conventional aspheric corrector plates. The resulting system is more easily fabricated, although there is no sacrifice in performance.
