Abstract

Ultra short pulse generation using a fiber source is a challenging area for all optical communication applications. Many efforts have been devoted into generating short pulses with a variety of methods[1][2]. The wavelength tuning capability of the fiber source are also of a great interest for WDM system application. The sliding frequency soliton fiber laser was reported for a possibility of wavelength tuning within a limited wavelength range[3][4]. In this paper, we report on a successful demonstration of a newly designed all fiber sliding frequency mode-locked fiber laser with a wide tuning range and a sub-picosecond pulse width.
