Abstract

We report the first measurements of femtosecond time-resolved, four-wave mixing (FWM) signals in intrinsic and modulation-doped GaAs quantum wells. These measurements, as a function of excitation and modulation-doping densities, temperature and incident photon energy, show a number of unusual features and provide new insights into ultrafast dynamical processes in semiconductors [1]. In this talk we will concentrate, for the sake of clarity, on one particular aspect of these exciting results, namely, the interesting behavior of the temporal evolution of the FWM signal as a function of the modulation-doping density.
