Abstract

Spectroscopic studies have been stressed for a long time as good tools for the description of phase transition mechanisms. The problem of order-disorder and/or displacive character of a specific transition is a priori well suited for a temporal domain analysis, as the associate temporal signatures are highly distinguishable. Moreover, one can use the opportunity of ultra short pulses to, in the limit of their Fourier transform extent, directly drive coherent excitation of soft low frequency optical phonons.
