High-power mode-locked Ho:CALGO lasers at 2.1 µm

Abstract

We report watt-level average power, mode-locked Ho:CALGO bulk lasers with record power at 2.1 µm. With SESAM mode-locking, we demonstrate 8.7-W average power (369 fs) at 2118 nm at an optical-to-optical efficiency of 38.2%. Using soft-aperture KLM, we demonstrate 112-fs pulse duration at an average power of 1.1 W.
