Abstract

We present the design and characterization of an external cavity diode laser system optimized for high stability, low cost, and ease of in-house assembly. Resonance data and characterization of the linewidth and stability of the new design demonstrate that the system is competitive with or superior to commercial precision diode laser systems at a fraction of the cost. The design will ultimately be fully documented and made freely available.
