THz Wave Generation Utilizing Photon-Induced Polarization in a Semiconductor Quantum-Dot Ensemble

Abstract

We describe and present experimental evidence for a mechanism by which photon- assisted polarization current in a semiconductor quantum dot array can produce strong, pulsed THz emission, all at room temperature. Both THz power and waveform are measured and characterized.
