Abstract

The recent development of monochromatic tunable coherent sources in the vacuum ultraviolet¹, together with the use of supersonic jet expansion for the formation of ground-state rare gas molecules² has enabled us to obtain new high-resolution spectra of Xe₂, Kr₂, and Ar₂ and to perform lifetime studies of selected rovibronic levels at low pressures (10⁻³ torr).
