Abstract
Introduction The float polishing has been widely used to make the gap opposed surfaces of VCR (Video Cassette Recorder) heads in Japan since 1978 [1], because the method can obtain the super smooth and extremely flat surfaces [2] on Mn-Zn ferrite single crystals with good edge geometry [3] and no damaged layer [2]. Nowadays, millions of the heads are manufactured per month using this technology. It is very easy to control the flatness of a lap in the float polishing, so that this is the most suitable method for automation of polishing in high quality.
