Abstract

The SUMER - Solar Ultraviolet Measurements of Emitted Radiation - instrument will be flown on the SOHO mission. The instrument will study the upper atmosphere of the sun in the 600 Å -1600 Å wavelength region. The SUMER instrument consists of an off-axis paraboloid followed by a slit, off-axis collimating paraboloid, scan mirror, grating, and a detector. The design parameters for the rectangular SUMER telescope mirror are listed in Table I.
