Abstract
The IEEE International Semiconductor Laser Conference has been a forum for current semiconductor laser research for 20 years. Traditionally, the meeting consists of contributed papers only, without concurrent sessions or invited talks. The emphasis has been on fostering discussion among the active researchers throughout the world. The meeting has been held every other year in Las Vegas (11/67), Mexico City (12/69), Boston (5/72), Atlanta (11/74), Nemo-no-sato, Japan (9/76), San Francisco (10/78), Brighton, England (9/80), Ottowa (9/82) and Rio de Janeiro (9/84). The tenth biennial conference will be held in Kanazawa, Japan, October 14-17, 1986.
