Quantum Optics Experiments with Semiconductor Nanostructures

Abstract

We use semiconductor nanostructures, to demonstrate coherent optical effects previously seen only in atomic vapours. We show, for the first time in a solid, optical gain without population inversion, and light slowed down to ~c/40.
