Abstract
In the system described, the lidar transmitter is a krypton fluoride (KrF) excimer laser which operates at an output wavelength of 248.5 nm. This laser has an output pulse energy of 0.75 joules in a 20 ns pulse with a pulse repetition rate of 1 Hz. In addition, the lidar is equipped with a 30-inch primary mirror and 2 RCA C31005 photomultipliers. A dual channel system is employed in order to receive and record two signal profiles simultaneously.
