Abstract
In preparation for joint observations of the mesosphere, preliminary observations were carried out during the July 5-6, 1982 lunar eclipse at both Albuquerque, N.M. and Brighton, Colorado. At Albuquerque, the almost cloud-less sky was photographed in the near infrared (650 to 850 nm), with a two stage electrostatically focused image tube viewing the entire sky through an 8-mm Nikon fish eye lens. Exposures of 3 and 10 sec were made every 5 minutes during the total phase of this long eclipse. A zenith photometer monitored the OH 8-3 band at 730 nm and sky background at 710 nm.
