Polarization-Preserving Quantum Frequency Conversion for Entanglement Distribution in Trapped-Atom based Urban Area Quantum Networks

Abstract

We present a compact, robust and transportable quantum frequency converter for polarization preserving conversion of 40Ca+ resonant photons to the telecom C-band with high and long-term stable efficiency of 50% and low conversion-induced background noise of 18 Hz.
