Clock synchronization methods with single photon sources

Abstract

Single photons can serve as both a carrier of information and timing signals. Here we discuss approaches to clock synchronization using pulsed and continuous wave quantum sources and find that pulsed operation enables higher noise resistance and more versatile link scenarios.
