Photon echo from GaAs quantum wells measured through Fourier-transform spectral interferometry

Abstract

It has been demonstrated that four-wave mixing (FWM) and photon echo experiments benefit significantly from being time resolved.1 This is usually achieved by recording the up-converted FWM signal as a function of the time delay with respect to a gating pulse. Here we demonstrate a much more efficient technique to time resolve the FWM signal: using Fourier-transform spectral interferometry.2 This very sensitive method, depicted in Fig. 1, has the additional benefit of providing both amplitude and phase of the FWM signal.
