Abstract
Numerous aromatic molecules undergo changes in molecular geometry after excitation to a higher electronic state. Intramolecular proton transfer in excited singlet states has received much attention as an example of a fast unimolecular photoreaction.1 The photophysics of 2-(2′-hydroxyphenyl)-benzothiazole (HBT) is discussed, which we have studied in detail by picosecond and femtosecond spectroscopy.
