Abstract

Studying the physical properties of the Cu-O based superconductors as a function of carrier concentration n is central to understanding the mechanism of high Tc, We have focused on the optical properties of the YBa2Cu3O6+x (YBCO) compounds, in which n can be varied by changing the concentration of oxygen. We describe the frequency and temperature-dependent conductivity, σ(ω,T), in the frequency range from 30 to 15,000cm−1, of a series of YBCO crystals with different values of x and Tc.
