Collective Dynamics of Water Around Solutes: Terahertz Time Domain Spectroscopic Studies

Abstract

We measure the collective hydration dynamics of aqueous solutions of solutes (e.g. salts, amino acids) in 0.2–2 THz frequency region. We observe alteration of the dynamics depending on the polarity and hydrophobicity of the solutes.
