Abstract
Laser-interferometric gravitational wave detectors are the most sensitive position meters ever operated, already pushing precision measurement to the standard quantum limit (SQL). Squeezed light may soon see its first practical application as a means to reach beyond the SQL. A growing network of kilometer-scale detectors will provide source localization on the sky, allowing detailed electromagnetic observations to follow any gravitational wave detection. Adding a proposed detector in India will greatly improve the ability of the world-wide network to localize sources and significantly increase the network’s scientific output.
