Abstract
The US military is currently dealing with a number of sensor and sensor integration issues similar to those that will enable homeland defense efforts. These issues are made more difficult by the nature of the homeland defense threat. DOD lessons-learned and insights will be discussed as they apply to homeland defense sensor integration. Key elements of sensor integration will be flowed down to relevant Photonics technologies to aid industry decision makers in effectively focusing investments in technology, systems, and devices. Examples are given, and conclusions and recommendations are provided.
