Abstract
We perform beam-coupling and erasure experiments in four different nominally undoped Bi12SiO20 (BSO) crystals. We use the theory of electron-hole competition1,2 in photorefractive gratings to analyze our data. We determine the diffusion- lengths for electrons and holes, the ratio S of hole to electron absorption, the Debye screening wavevector ko, the total absorption coefficient and the quantum efficiency.
