Abstract

In this paper, we present an analytic solution for high gain two beam coupling in photorefractive crystals where one of the input beams may be time dependent. This is an extension of Heaton and Solymar's solution [1] for the two beam coupling transient which results when the signal beam is abruptly turned on at time t=0 and remains constant after that. Like the solution of Ref 1, we still use the undepleted pumps approximation; the extension involves allowing the signal beam to have arbitrary time variation.
