Abstract

Quantum Confined Stark Effect(QCSE)1-4 holds a great deal of promise for active switching devices controllable by light and/or electronics. This effect allows one to tailor the device response to such a great extent that at least in principle a number of powerful devices can be conceived and demonstrated.
