Reduced Waveguide Intersection Losses for Large Tree-Structured Ti:LiNbO3 Switch Arrays

Abstract

We describe modifications to waveguide intersections used in integrated-optic switches that permit reduced excess loss. Using the Beam Propagation Method as a guide, we designed and fabricated geometries that have 50% lower loss.
