Abstract
At the Max-Planck-Institute (MPI) a DIAL system was developed for measurements of vertical distributions of water-vapor in the troposphere. It was shown in [1], [2] that high resolution day- and nighttime measurements can be performed with a residual error caused by laser properties of less than 5%. Additionally it was demonstrated in [3] that low statistical errors of this system allow the determination of water-vapor flux profiles by combining the system with a wind profiler and using the eddy correlation method [4].
